WHY You Should Complete the Superintendent Survey
Attention! YOUR INPUT IS NEEDED.
The Superintendent Feedback Survey for KSD’s search for the new superintendent is open until 5 PM on Monday, October 21.
Strong leadership is CRITICAL in order for our Kirkwood students and community to thrive. In case you are not aware, here are a few incidents from just the past few months that reflect the failed leadership of KSD:
Parents filed a lawsuit against KSD regarding repeated Sunshine Law violations (read the full petition here).
KSD admitted to teaching courses for years that had never gone through the required Board approval process, some of which didn’t even have a curriculum! (Did your kid take one of these classes?! See summary here.)
KSD was in the midst of a controversy in which a teacher refused to display an Israeli flag alongside the Palestinian flag and told a parent that the Holocaust was “your version of history” (see story here).
KSD continued its pattern of sending students surveys that violate policy & law (see recent example here).
A national organization filed two Civil Rights complaints against KSD for its race-based opportunities for staff and students that violate Title VI of the Civil Rights Act and the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment (see info here).
Our District needs and deserves better leadership. Please use your voice throughout this superintendent search process to help and to hold the Board of Education accountable to ensuring that the kids of Kirkwood get the kind of leader our great community deserves and needs.
